Choose a Verification Method

Google offers multiple verification methods. The available options depend on your business type, location, and industry.

1. Verification by Postcard (Most Common)

  • Google will mail a postcard with a verification code to your business address.

    Steps:

    • Select “Postcard by mail” and click “Mail”.
    • Enter the recipient’s name (if needed) and confirm your address.
    • Google will send a postcard that usually arrives within 5-14 days.
    • Once received, log in to Google Business Profile.
    • Click “Verify now”, enter the 5-digit code, and click “Submit”.

2. Verification by Phone (If Available)

  • Some businesses can verify instantly via phone.

    Steps:

    • If this option is available, click “Verify by phone”.
    • Google will call or text your business phone number with a verification code.
    • Enter the code and click “Verify”.

3. Verification by Email (If Available)

  • Google may allow verification via email.

    Steps:

    • Select “Verify by email”.
    • Check your email inbox for the verification code.
    • Enter the code in Google Business Profile and click “Verify”.

4. Instant Verification (If Eligible)

  • If you’ve already verified your business via Google Search Console, Google may verify your business instantly.

 

5. Video Verification (New Method)

  • Some businesses are asked to submit a video to prove legitimacy.

    Steps:

    Record a 360-degree video showing:

    • The exterior of your business (including signage).
    • Interior, showing equipment or products.
    • You accessing the business website dashboard or inventory system.

    Upload the video in the Google Business Profile dashboard.

 

6. Live Video Call Verification

  • Google may require a live video call.

    Steps:

    • Google will prompt you to schedule a live video call.
    • A Google representative will ask you to show your location, workspace, or tools via a video call.
